Ministry of Defence

The completed refurbishment of the Ministry of Defence London headquarters in Whitehall, commonly known as Main Building, was the successful culmination of a major PFI project that has enabled the Ministry of Defence to improve working practices, increase efficiency and reduce London staffing levels. Over fifty companies provided staff for their individual areas of responsibility which at its peak meant that almost 1,700 contractors were working on site.

Pinacl Solutions' experience of successfully completing defence projects stems from understanding the needs of the MoD and the environment in which the MoD work. Accredited to ISO9001, Pinacl Solutions employs the Prince 2 methodology for all processes and principles within our project management group and work to JSP480, CIDA regulations.

Pinacl Solutions have security clearance for 400 employees covering sales, design and operations. For the MoD Whitehall project, Pinacl Solutions were required to:

• Design the main communications, cabling and network rooms
• Design and commission over 4,000,000 miles of fibre optic and copper cable
• Plan and implement over 50,000 copper outlets
• Plan and implement over 50,000 fibre outlets
• Implement Celsius Core cable management software for infrastructure documentation and maintenance with moves, adds and changes
• Liaison with other sub-contractors and main contractor parties for the implementation of IT services
